Most of what we mean to write, we say first, to ourselves or out loud. Tyne is a small Mac app that catches it: press a shortcut, speak, and the words land at your cursor in whatever app you were already using. Say “log it” and they are saved to your vault instead.
Three rules we don't bend.
Dictation hears everything you say, so how it treats that is the product. These are the constraints every feature has to fit inside.
Your Mac does the listening
Speech is transcribed by WhisperKit on Apple Silicon. Audio is not uploaded, so dictation keeps working with the network off.
What you say stays yours
Notes live in one encrypted database on your Mac. Its key is generated there and kept in your Keychain. We never hold a copy.
Online only when you ask
Cleanup runs on a local model too. The only way text leaves is a cloud key you add yourself, off by default, and audio never does.

Tyne runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later, and ships as a signed, notarized app rather than through the App Store, because typing into other apps needs Accessibility access that the App Store sandbox blocks.
